Splitgate is now in beta on PS4, Xbox One and PC, and should come out by the end of the month. I have been playing for about 15 hours now and I love the game. This does not mean that it is perfect. Here are three things I love and I do not like about splitgate so far.
What I love
Splitgate has been described as a portal with firearms, and yes, it's quite precise. Portals are a fantastic addition to the arena shooting formula that makes it important to know your environment and the constant verification of your back. They improve mobility and make travel on cards a pleasure. Nothing is more satisfying than placing a portal and shooting people before they can turn around.
I admit that I am pretty picky over time to kill. I like games like Rainbow six siege because the time to kill is so short, so you do not completely discharge your weapon to kill an opponent. I did not enter the royal battles because the time to kill is often high and varies depending on the armor. I do not like it. Splitgate reaches this ideal point where it is not long for killing someone, especially if you get shots at the head; Without being too fast, you can not answer. I know it's strange to enumerate, but that's my list. I will list everything I want.
For a Free-To-Play Shooter, splitgate does not lack content. It has more than 20 cards and 15 game modes. I like all these modes of play, except one, to which I will come back later, and I consider this as an absolute victory. Most game modes are in 4V4 with a 3V3 too. I do not have time to review all modes of play, but here are my favorites: the swat team is in 4v4 with the combat rifle three shots where the shots in the head are an instantaneous kill. Oddball has teams of four trying to keep a balloon as long as possible. The one who holds the ball can not shoot, but it's an instant kill to the body with body. I also like Team Fiesta, which takes two teams of four and places them in a standard dead game, except that you get a random loading of weapons every time you die. It's chaotic and fun.
Overall, I love Splitgate. However, there are some things I would like to see refined before a complete output.
