The Elder Scrolls Online Enhanced Edition will provide some graphic enhancements for Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5. Thus, the game in power mode runs on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 with a dynamic resolution of 1080p to 2160p, where always the 60fps should be guaranteed. The Xbox Series S dynamically switches between 1080p up to 1440p.
The Elder Scrolls Online Enhanced
- Xbox Series X - 2160P dynamic with 60fps
- Playstation 5 - 2160P dynamic with 60fps
- Xbox Series S - 1440P dynamic with 60fps
Bethesda announces that The Elder Scrolls will run online in power mode on the Xbox Series X in 4K with 60fps. Only in large battles and intense boss fights the resolution is adjusted.
"For the release of ESO: Console Enhanced was our most important goal on the graphic side, as close as possible to solid 60fps for our performance modes to come to Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5. That meant for us that we had to choose a resolution from which we believed that they would have existed in all situations on the respective platforms: 1440p on the X and PS5 and 1080p on the S. "
"Some of you have pointed out that new console generation should be able to deliver higher resolutions at 60 frames per second, and you are right. Update 31 We enable the dynamic resolution scaling for power mode on the Xbox series X | S and PS5, which upgrades the resolutions on the basis of power metrics. For the X and PS5 series, the dynamic resolution between 1080p and 2160p (4K) is scaled, while the S series S between 1080p and 1440p scales. We expect, for example, that our Series X players run in most situations at 60 frames per second in power mode with 4K or very close. On the other hand, the opportunity to go down to 1080p, prevent image dropouts in high-intensive situations such as large battles in cyrodiil and certain boss fights in tests and dungeons. We still experiment with the dynamic resolution scaling, so please let us know how it works for you! "
Furthermore, Bethesda has announced that HDR mode has been completely revised and update 31 will receive some improvements:
"Many of you have expressed their frustration through our current HDR implementation on consoles. We are pleased to announce you that with Update 31 we will introduce a new HDR mode that retains the hue and very close to the appearance of ESO in SDR while using the advantages of the extended area. If you prefer the appearance of ESO in HDR, this will continue to be an option. To do this, you just have to switch our new HDR mode setting from standard to alive. "
Update 31 appears for PC / Mac and Stadia on August 23 and for Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 31st.
