Xbox Series X can add HDR to backward-compatible play - Fusion Frenzy - Video Peel messages, instructions, exemplary procedures, reviews and cultu
This includes games that do not even support HDR, like Halo 5: Guardians and Fusion Frenzy.
In a recently published report on Digital Foundry, which damps deep into the specifications for the Xbox Series X, Microsoft revealed some very interesting things for downward compatibility. Xbox One title would benefit from the full performance of the X and significantly improve the graphic. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was specified as an example and ran with native 4K.
However, the hardware could also add HDR to downward-compatible titles that are not even supported. It uses an algorithm derived from HDR technology Tahn wheels 5 and includes increasing the peak brightness of an image to up to 1000 Nits. The final result are games like halo 5: Watchers and Fusionsrausch runs in HDR.
Claude Marais, software developer at Microsoft ATG, explained: "It can be theoretically and technically applied to all games. I think we are still working on user experiences and similar things, but this is a technical demo. So the [halo 5] is four years old, right, so we go to the utmost and jump to a game that is just 19, 20 years old - and that's Fusionsrausch. At that time nothing was known about HDR, nobody knew something about HDR. Games have only used 8-bit back buffer. "
The function works for just about every game in the Xbox series. But it also leads to other advantages. "Let's look at the accessibility. If you have people who can not read or see well, you probably want to improve the contrast if a lot of text is displayed on the screen. We can do that easily. We talked to someone this morning, which is colorful, and that's a great example. We simply turn on the LUT and can change the colors to make the announcement easier to experience. "
It is particularly impressive if it is used in conjunction with Smart Delivery, which allows the owner of Xbox One titles to get a free upgrade for playing on Xbox Series X. Microsoft has not yet announced how many of its games will benefit from Smart Delivery, except for the Coalition Tahnräder 5 recently confirmed the same. CD project red's cyberpunk 2077 was also confirmed.
The Xbox Series X is introduced on vacation 2020. A complete breakdown of the technical data can be found here.
