PS5 & Xbox Series X: Further chip manufacturer gives dark prognosis

Not all can still be easily incorporated with one of the coveted PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles. Through Scalper, which cuts the consoles, and offer for sales platforms for expensive money, the PS5 and Xbox Series X became the lack of material.

Another chip manufacturer now explained that it will probably have a long impact on the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Chip scarcity awaited for 2022

Opposite Bloomberg, the chip manufacturer Toshiba confirmed that manufacturers of cars, consumer electronics and industrial machines must also count on a scarcity until the end of 2022. Department conductor Takeshi Kamebuchi clarifies the time when recovering can be expected:

The range of chips will remain very close until at least September next year. In some cases, customers could not be fully operated until 2023.

What is supposed to be done? Toshiba plans to invest around 545 million US dollars by March 2024 in increasing the production of semiconductor chips. Even thereafter, the company wants to fight against the persistent scarcity in the long term by, for example, it builds new factories to increase production again.

Heavy times for PS5 and Xbox Series X

How likely is this forecast? Unfortunately, Toshiba confirms the prognosis of Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger. He too believes that the scarcity of the chips will probably continue until 2023 and fans thus have to adjust to a long patience sample.

But there is hope: According to own information Sony was able to secure many of the coveted semiconductor chips. Thus, in this fiscal year, 14.8 million ps5 consoles should be produced and sufficient fans are supplied. Whether the bill is committed, we will be experienced at the latest in March 2022.
