In September, the video streaming platform Twitch, which decided to lower the domestic broadcasting quality to 720p, has another precipitation. This time, he decided to stop the VoD function to watch the last broadcast.
Twitch announced on the 10th (domestic time) that it will stop VoD functions (including clip, previous broadcasts, highlights, and uploaded content) through the official website. VoD service will be applied from December 13th, and from this day, domestic viewers will not be able to watch vod content or search VoD content on channels.
Even after December 13, foreign viewers can continue to watch vod content of Korean streamers. However, starting next year, new VoD content will not be generated in domestic services. Twitch did not automatically delete VoD content, but it was recommended to store it in a local storage space through broadcast software for personal use.
In response to the decision, Twitch said, We have emphasized the importance of compliance with korean laws before, and it is a part of our efforts to implement the optimal measures to meet the evolving regulatory standards. The question is whether it is a measure to reduce costs, but it is not related to the increase in network rates and market costs.
Meanwhile, Twitch's announcement rose 15.21% from the previous day as of 1:12 pm on the 10th.
