The SSD of PS5 will bring a paradigm shift in structuring our game worlds - Quantum League Developer
The developer also says that a port of the next generation of the shooter is not off the table.
While the PS5 was criticized by some people because of their supposed performance deficiency compared to the Xbox Series X, the SSD is an aspect of the console that enthuses developers throughout the industry. The console's solid state drive promises to be the best in the market, and should theoretically lead to actual, noticeable improvements in the game design, in addition to other relatively smaller but yet welcome upgrades.
Another developer who is enthusiastic about the PSS5 is Balthazar Auger of Nimble Giant Entertainment, main designer of the unique coming competition shooter. Quantliga. In conversation with Gamingbolt, anger talked about how the SSD would of course help shorten the loading times before he said that this will probably trigger a paradigm shift in the approach of the developer to the design of the worlds of their game.
He said, Well, it should definitely help to improve the loading times, but as play and levels designers to speak, which will probably bring over time, a kind of paradigm shift in the way we are structuring our game worlds And how detailed you can be.
According to Auger, however, it remains to wait if and when these theoretical advantages actually manifest. This is determined by various other factors, for example through developing engines, which can develop so far that they can actually handle this kind of things.
It remains to be seen which actual benefits we can at present because engine technology must also develop further to meet hardware progress, and the developermentalities also have to catch up, said auger. Sometimes more is not really better (do you remember the cell?).
In the meantime, when asked for possible ports of asked Quantenliga on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X Anger answered: Nothing is from the table!
In the same interview, Auger also spoke with us about the difference between the respective GPU clock rates of the PS5 and Xbox Series X and about what impact this has. Read more about it here.
Quantliga will be available later this year for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Our complete interview with Auger will go online soon, so it remains on it.
